Glen Cove Man Admits Selling Fake Pain Pills With Fentanyl, Causing 2 Fatal Overdoses
A 24-year-old from Long Island is the latest in a trio of people to admit to a scheme of selling fake pain pills that actually had fentanyl in them, leading to two overdose deaths.
Devon Thurmond, a Glen Cove resident, pleaded guilty to running the scheme that caused two deaths on Friday, March 22, according to the US Attorney’s Office in the Eastern District of New York.
From 2021 to 2023, Thurmond conspired with two other Glen Cove residents — Cartier Funderburke, age 24, and Melissa Trimarchi, age 37 — to sell fentanyl that was disguised as oxycodone pills.

Modeling Photographer From Glen Cove Accused Of Sexual Abuse
A Long Island modeling photographer has been accused of sexually abusing a child after a months-long investigation.
The suspect, Jim Masiakos, age 58 of Glen Cove, was apprehended on Wednesday, Nov. 22, Nassau County Police said.
According to detectives, on Tuesday, Aug. 22, Maslakos was working from his home as a modeling photographer for children.
He was in the process of taking measurements for a 10-year-old girl when he inappropriately touched her, police said.

Selling Alcohol, Tobacco To Minors: Four Nassau County Men Nabbed, Police Say
Four people were arrested after undercover investigators allegedly caught them selling alcohol and tobacco to minors.
On Wednesday, Oct. 11, Nassau County Police arrested the following men as part of its “Project 21” initiative:
Mohamad Hasan, age 62 of Elmhurst;
Edward Coughlin, age 39 of Seaford;
Tony Torres Navarro, age 42 of Locust Valley; and
Vikram V. Billa, age 27 of Glen Cove.
The arrests were made using underage agents, officials said.
Hasan is accused of selling tobacco at Star Bazzar Smoke Shop, located in Hicksville at 316 North Broadway.

A man accused of selling an assortment of illicit drugs throughout Long Island, including ketamine and cocaine, has been arrested, police announced.
On Thursday, Aug. 17 at 9:40 p.m., Michael Ezzo, age 46, was arrested on multiple charges of possessing and selling drugs, according to Nassau County Police.
Authorities claim that Ezzo, a Glen Cove resident, sold the following from November to December 2022 in Levittown and East Meadow:

A hit-and-run driver who allegedly injured an 8-year-old was nabbed by police on Long Island.
The incident took place in Greenvale around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 11 on Maple Street.
According to detectives, the boy was riding his bicycle off of the sidewalk into the street when he was struck by a red-colored 1997 Dodge Dakota.
The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for minor injuries, police said.

A Long Island crossing guard is in critical condition after being hit by an SUV while at work.
The incident took place in Glen Cove around 9 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 6 on Dosoris Lane.
According to Lt. John Nagle, of the Glen Cove Police, crossing guard Carlos Vasquez, age 58, was actively crossing pedestrians at the school crossing on Dosoris Lane at the intersection with Maple Avenue at the time of the accident.

A hip-hop artist who is signed with Def Jam Recordings has been arrested in connection with the shooting of three people at a Long Island hotel.
Remy Marshall, age 26, of Brooklyn, turned himself in to Glen Cove Police on Thursday, July 21, with the help of the NYPD, said Glen Cove Lt. Det. John Nagle.
